Of these, approximately 20% will have mental health conditions such as dementia, depression, anxiety, and substance use, often complicated by physical and psychosocial comorbidities culminating in disability. IPA is focused on raising awareness around the impact of ageism on health outcomes and supporting the protection of the human rights of older persons with mental health conditions. IPA will use its platform to highlight both older persons' mental health issues as well as promoting healthy aging initiatives around the globe through Older Adult Mental Health Awareness Week from 1 October through 10 October 2023. Are you interested in getting involved? We invite all members of the IPA community to get involved in Awareness Week! If you are interested in being a guest contributor by sharing resources, writing an article or op-ed piece, or speaking in a short video, please complete this form linked here. Here are some easy ways to help make our work an even bigger success.
