IPA Letter to Support Loneliness Day
A LETTER OF SUPPORT TO RAISE AWARENESS TO COUNTERACT “LONELINESS”
Loneliness, especially in the elderly, has emerged to be an important public health issue in recent years, such that the United Kingdom, under Prime Minister Theresa May, established a ministry to combat it. One of IPA’s allied society, the Italian Psychogeriatric Society, announced the establishment of a national day to combat the loneliness of the elderly in 2018. Because of the seriousness of the issue and the importance to raise awareness to end loneliness, the Advocacy and Awareness Task force of the IPA decided to support this initiative.
