Costs, Discounts, and Waivers for Open Access Articles

IPA Members will always receive a discount as a benefit of membership! Additional waivers and discounts are also available – see below:

As an open access journal, articles accepted for publication in International Psychogeriatrics will require payment of an “article publishing charge” (APC). During submission, authors are presented with a personalized APC rate based on their individual context (i.e., country, institutional affiliation, funding, and/or IPA membership).

  • IPA Member Discount
    • 20% discount off the APC: $2800 (full-length articles) and $1760 (short articles) ($3500 and $2200, respectively, for non-Members)
    • Payment is made after acceptance
    • Letters and invited pieces are free
  • Institution and University Consortia Funding Agreements
    • Elsevier has funding agreements with institutions and university consortia worldwide. Eligible authors will not need to pay the APC -- it will be funded or subsidized by these groups.
    • See: https://www.elsevier.com/open-access/agreements
  • Funding Body Agreements
  • Research4Life waivers
    • Waivers of the entire APC or discounts of 50% (depending on the World Bank classification) will be provided to authors affiliated with institutions conducting research in the Resarch4Life developing countries participating in the program.
    • See: https://www.research4life.org/access/eligibility for more information.
  • Elsevier’s Waiving Policy: Waivers may be granted should an author from a non-Research4Life country be unable to afford the APC and can demonstrate an absence of research funding.
