Call for Interest: Name Change Task Force
On behalf of the International Psychogeriatric Association’s (IPA) President and Executive Committee (EC), we invite you to be part of the newly established Name Change Task Force (NCTF).
This project is the result of observations by IPA board and committee members that the name “International Psychogeriatric Association” may not accurately reflect its commitment towards a diverse, inclusive, and dedicated group of multi-disciplinary professionals within our association, all with a common goal of serving the mental health needs of older persons.
The charge of the task force is to provide recommendations about changing the organization’s name. Task force members should be members of IPA and should represent the diverse countries and disciplines within IPA. The task force will include in their deliberation input from key stakeholders; including current members, past IPA leaders, affiliated organizations, groups from which IPA might increase members such as health related groups of multiple disciplines (nurses, social workers, etc.). Also we seek input from stakeholders such as patient and family advocates, other professional groups related to aging, non-professional representatives of aging, patient families and caregivers.
As a member of IPA, we invite you to be part of this important task force. The task force is specifically looking for representation from Europe and Australia/ New Zealand. We do ask the following effort and commitment from you:
- Meeting every 2 weeks for up to 6 months (January to June)
- Request for at least 85% attendance
If this commitment is too extensive at this time, we hope you will consider being available for a smaller role to share your knowledge. Please note that not all applicants will be chosen for the task force but may be asked for other input or pieces of the project (i.e., developing surveys, participating in focus groups, etc.).

- Submit your CV
- State your discipline (i.e. nurse, social worker, psychiatrist, etc.)
- Country of Residence
- Years in the field
- Indicate interest in either joining the NCTF or assisting in specific components of the project
