Daisy Acosta is a Medical Dr, graduated in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic at Universidad Nacional Pedro Henriquez Ureña (UNPHU) in 1977. After graduation, she worked the year required by the government in order to obtain the license to practice medicine in the country. She then decided to go to the United States to continue her studies and after passing all the required exams; (ECFMG= Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates; VQE= Visa Qualifying Examination; FLEX = Federal License Examination), she specialized in general psychiatry at Saint Francis General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (1980-1984).
Was certified by the American board of psychiatry and neurology in 1988, certification #30186; by the American Board of Geriatric Psychiatry in 1996 certification #1652 and by the American Board of Forensic Medicine in 1999 certification #13994.
After complexion of her training, she worked for 3 years in the USA, at Woodville State Hospital, holding the position of Staff Psychiatrist and chief of the male acute admission unit, she also worked part time during that period, at the Buttler Community Mental Health Centre. In 1987, she went back to her home country, where she established a private practice which is today, one of the largest practice in the care of patients with Alzheimer's Disease and other dementias in the Dominican Republic.
