Dr. Wang is the Chair, Clinical Research Division and Associate Director, Beijing Municipal Key Laboratory for Translational Research on Diagnosis and Treatment of Dementia. She is also the Associate Director, Dementia Care & Research Center, Peking University Institute of Mental health. She has been closely involved in and served as one of the founding members and Secretary-General of the Chinese Interest Group of Chinese Society for Psychiatry (CPIG), an IPA affiliate.
A practicing geriatric psychiatrist and a leader in her field in China, Dr. Wang's major contributions in the field include: research on dementia and late-life dementia; teaching and lecturing to develop the subspecialty of geriatric psychiatry; capacity building – educating primary physicians and young psychiatrists and researchers; and policy advocacy for aging mental health. Born and educated in China, Dr. Wang is very familiar with Asian culture.
Trained in the United States, and having served on the IPA Board of Directors, Dr. Wang maintains close links with colleagues in North America, Europe and Asia. She launched the first dementia caregiver support group in China and is currently a leader of dementia care training, for both the community-based family caregiver as well as staff in the nursing homes. Dr. Wang has a strong record of leadership in the field in China. She is also a founding member of Alzheimer’s Disease China, and now serves as the Vice President and Vice Secretary-General (for Foreign Affairs).
